Some people always ask me, what makes a website attract visitors, and there are many things in this world that people are interested in, but women no matter what always attracts the attention of men. The human body is a very big part of a sales pitch, If you can make it look sexy and attractive then the chances are you’ve managed to grab 50% of the visitors atttention without even trying.

So no matter what the topic is or the item you’re trying to sell is, chances are a sexy looking model (male or female) will help the sale of the item without much effort.

How is this true?

Well here’s an example Reebok have recently just released an advert in the last 5 months for the “easy tone”, basically showing women that they can have a nice looking bum! Now the advert itself is basically so perfect for two reasons, Women want a bum like those on the advert, and guys want women to have that exact bum to! So no matter how you look at that, its a master piece for seduction.

Here’s the ad in question.

Now lads, once you’ve stopped oggling… (hehe) You can see how perfect that the marketing term “sex sells” applies to this advert so very well. It makes me want to go out and buy some of those trainers!

So as far as marketing goes I decided to find some more video’s of seductive models, Now just before we continue I’d like to add these models are not actualy selling anything but we all love a nice sexey model to make our days go faster! So sit back and enjoy these seductive shoots.

Women can sell guys anything!

Kate Beckinsale

Daisy Lowe

Rachel Weisz

Megan Fox

Rosie Huntington-Whitely

Conclusion

(The last one is a personal favourite of mine!)
If this post doesnt convience the few people that I’ve done work with the sex doesnt sell things then, I’m very sorry… But I believe in all my time of online marketing that a sexy model will help a product sell, you just need to harvest and use them in the right context.

I hope you enjoyed my reasoning of why sex sells, It is so very true that it works… I can guarantee that is it so true and that’s why you’ve just been reading this page and watching these video’s for the last 5 minutes!

Disclaimer : Yes this could be just another one of my excuses for posting up really awesome videos of models, but do you blame me? … Afterall we’re only human!

Being a web designer I’ve always used PC as this makes up a good 90% of the users on the web, but there is always the 10% of users still using Mac, and for testing newly coded websites in OSx has always been a pain. For years I’ve been using Windows as my primary OS and after a strong run at college about 6 years ago where I was using Mac OS for a good couple of years I’ve decided to get me a legal copy of OSx and install it upon my PC.

I’m well impressed with the speed, its running as a MacPro setup. I run a ASUS P5B Deluxe and I’ve got to say I’ve never found it so easy to do this! Here’s the proof:

After a short while, i decided to start to play with things… and managed to get a trial copy of parallels. For those of you who dont know what parallels is, its a virtual machine application for OSx. This allows you to run more than one operating system as a time.

So off i went and grabbed my copy of Microsoft Windows Vista, 20 minutes later I had OS x and vista running upon the same machine, Which is perfect for web development! Now i just need to dig out my copy of Windows XP and get that up and running for IE6! (*shakes fist @ IE 6!*)

Everything works a dream, I really can’t believe how good this is!

Now as some of you know I tend to do alot of work for other designers and illustrators alike, Mainly because when you’re in the industry of design you tend to end up with alot of contact in close areas of work to you. This isn’t a bad thing, infact its quite the opposite.

Phil Regan is a client of mine and also a very good friend, he’s just finished up on some illustrative design work that he’s been doing for BMW. Now Phil has a keen eye for design and also appreciates anything that is realted to this, which is awesome because if i need someone to check over something, then this would be where Phil comes in. Phil’s eye for illustration and design is phonominal and this leads me onto the work he’s been doing!

I’ve just this week added 3 new pieces of work that phil has completed, to bring his online portfolio upto date. I honestly can’t tell you how good phil is at what he does because quite honestly words can’t describe! (Thats a personal saying of phils!). Anyway, I’ve plugged phil enough for you to be sure to take a wonder over to his site im sure you will after that kind of hype ‘fo sure!’

CRN Test Center downloaded Firefox 3 Beta 1 from Mozilla for a peek to get an idea of what users can expect when Firefox 3 is officially launched. Since this is a beta, the browser is intended for testing purposes only. While no one expects the browser to be production-ready now, if history is any guide, the likelihood of users going ahead and upgrading increases the longer the product stays in beta.

The beta was downloaded onto a Compaq desktop with AMD Athlon processor, a five-year old Dell Inspiron notebook, and a three-year-old IBM Thinkpad T42 laptop. All three machines run Windows XP. Installation was painless and took less than five minutes on all machines. Bookmarks and profiles from both Firefox and from Internet Explorer migrated seamlessly. However, the browser didn’t work well on all hardware configurations.

I’ve just been tring to align an image with some text next to it in a div, the the is it would make the text jump to the bottom of the image. Obviously this mad me mad! Grrr I’ve meny times had to do this, but I thought I would share this fix with you all, so here is a little work around that you can use to get around the issue of vertically aligning objects in a webpage.

.nameofdiv {
line-height:37px;
}

.nameof img {
vertical-align:middle;
}

As you can see the image is 37px high, so by setting the line height to the same height as the image, it makes it look like the html text and the image are alligned in the div vertically correct.
This is a great way to fix menu items in <li>’s without breaking the laws of valid XHTML and CSS

Note: You need to have one line of text in the DIV for this to work. If you have 2 lines, it won’t look correct. For examples of differnt ways of using the above code see this link. It has a good few quality examples obviously with all the code in the source for you to examine at your own free will.

Ok, for all you wanted to learn how I built this site then here you go.

This site is built using Valid XHTML and CSS. The original idea was made using Photoshop, and once I was happy with the layout I then sat down and installed WordPress, but for this you need to ensure your hosting supports PHP and MySQL services. Since I run my own Unix Dedicated Servers this wasn’t a problem for me as I installed them as needed. So make sure you have Unix Hosting with full PHP and MySQL Support.

Install WordPress

Like I mentioned before this sites backend stucture is run on the ever so popular WordPress. This makes it ever so easy to manage content as WordPress is a great free open source Content Management System released for all to use! After installing WordPress upon my server I then started with a Blank WordPress theme. Download the blank theme here. I got hold of the blank wordpress theme thanks to texto.de

Blood sweat & Tears

Once I had installed the blank theme, I then went about creating my theme locally on my machine. Once I had put enough blood and tears into the theme spending around 30% of the time taken to code the site and then another 70% of that time getting it to work in the really rubish web browser called Internet Explorer I could then integrated my XHTML/CSS Valid layout into wordpress using the Blank theme as my basic functions.

sIFR Font Replacement Method

I then decided to use sIFR Font replacement for the H1, H2, H3, & H4 tags through my site. For more infomation on sIFR then visit the sIFR Official site here. Yet again thanks to the guys involved sIFR Font Replacement meothod is free under the CC-GNU LGPL license, so anyone can use it free of charge. (Best way!)

Comments Avatars

For the avatar icons on the comment pages I have opted for the use of Gravatar. What is a gravatar i hear you say?

A gravatar, or globally recognized avatar, is quite simply an 80×80 pixel avatar image that follows you from weblog to weblog appearing beside your name when you comment on gravatar enabled sites. Avatars help identify your posts on web forums, so why not on weblogs? The folks at Gravatar have examples and methods for you to impliment there unique avatar system into any site you wish.

That pritty much sums up the creation of this site so far. No doubt i will change it very soon, as I’m a sod for doing that! I promise you I shall amend this page if I do something major to this site.

You know that one browser that has only a vague association with modern web standards? Yeah, Internet Explorer. Wouldn’t it be great if it supported stuff like translucent PNGs?

Well I found this whilst browsing the web late last night. Its a IE6 hack that impliments the PNG transparncy with ease!

Now you can add decent PNG support to IE5.5+ on Windows with no changes to your website HTML source code. This script will add near-native PNG support with full alpha opacity, with only one line in your CSS file, that applies to all <img> tags and also background images!

I’ve been working with Bob for the past month or so coding his website for him and in all honest I’ve loved every minute of it, Quickly May I add he’s a quality guy and very very easy to work with, even though he’s from a Graphic design background he delt with the constrains of web design like a professional! Bob created a layout for his site in which he stated that he wanted to keep it nice and most of all very simple.

I feel that we have totally hit the nail on the head. It has to be by far one of the most simple designs I’ve done in along time! For that it needs definatly has to have its place in my portfolio. Without any exceptions all the backend code is coded in Valid XHTML and CSS as usual. Whist the design of the site is Bob’s work I’m still adding it under my portfolio as Code in my eyes is poetry and its worth showing off for that very reason!

Im very happy with the end product, and seriously can’t wait for Bob to send me some new updates for his online portfolio pages!
If you havn’t already seen Sanderson Bob’s work then don’t hessitate to go and have a look…
